Barnsley House Wedding Photographer – Olivia and James’ wedding

The best things about being a Cotswold wedding photographer are getting to work with lovely couples like Olivia and James and getting to shoot wedding photography at Barnsley House.  This luxurious country house retreat has its own spa, stunning gardens, elegant rooms and luxurious accommodation.  Situated in the picture-perfect Cotswold village of Barnsley, this elegant and romantic country house was the perfect location for Olivia and James’ summer wedding.  But I’m getting ahead of myself, I’ll get back to all the reasons why I love being a Barnsley House wedding photographer later, let’s start at the beginning of Olivia and James’ day.

On the day, I got there early so I could photograph Olivia getting ready at the Ede family home in Oxfordshire.  It was lovely to see the family again as I had previously photographed Olivia’s brother Dan’s wedding a few years ago.  I get a lot of my bookings through recommendations like this and it’s always lovely to catch up with families again. Everybody was in good spirits and there was a little bubbly on hand to start the party/settle any last-minute nerves!

Olivia looked stunning in her Suzanne Neville wedding dress that had the most beautiful full skirt that gave her the perfect fairy-tale bride silhouette in all of my images.  Her look was one of classic understated glamour, Olivia looked elegant yet comfortable and really suited being a bride.

The ceremony was held in nearby St Leonard’s Church in the pretty Cotswold village of Eynsham.  This pretty 13th century church has a rich history and is very active within the village today.  Olivia and her father travelled there in style in a friends open top vintage Rolls Royce.

Olivia had five bridesmaids and they wore gorgeous lavender dresses that really suited the classic and romantic style of the wedding.   Now, I don’t want to miss James and the boys out!  James and his grooms party looked very smart in petrol blue tails suits with co-ordinated waistcoats.   The youngest two members of the groom’s party looked adorable.

After a lovely ceremony there was a fun confetti moment, and I captured some great group images outside the entrance of St Leonard’s under a pretty arch of flowers along with some great candid images of Olivia and James’ guests.

Then everybody headed to Barnsley House for the wedding reception.  Olivia and James travelling in that gorgeous open top vintage Rolls Royce.

Natural Barnsley House wedding photography

Yay! Now I get to talk about why I love shooting wedding photography at Barnsley House.  The most obvious reason is that when it comes to stunning backdrops in wedding photographs, I am totally spoilt for choice.  Whether it’s the elegant and tasteful period features inside, the beautiful gardens outside, or the stunning views of the famous Cotswold countryside, they all provide me with a never-ending supply of beautiful backdrops.

On arrival everybody enjoyed a drinks and canapes reception on the lawn and I got the chance to unobtrusively capture some lovely image of Olivia and James’s guests as they happily mingled and soaked up with the sunshine in these beautiful surroundings.

I then whisked Olivia and James away for a mini photoshoot around the gardens and grounds of Barnsley House to capture some romantic portrait images of them.  I got some great shots.

The wedding reception was held in a marquee on the lawn which was dressed beautifully.

Olivia and James arrived to loud applause before everybody enjoyed a sumptuous three course wedding breakfast.  The speeches were a triumph with Olivia’s dad going first with a heartfelt speech, followed by an emotional speech by James and finishing with a funny and witty speech by the best man.  So, one way or another, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house!

Storytelling wedding photography at Barnsley House

All of the guests then relocated outside to Barnsley House’s Tuscan temple in the garden, as this was where the wedding cake was displayed.  And what a cake it was.  The Pretty Little Cake Company had created a stunning naked with 3-tiers and decorated with beautiful flowers.  I much prefer naked wedding cakes; they look so much prettier and are always so much tastier!

Evening celebrations started with a romantic first dance to live band ‘The Revue’.  And it wasn’t long before Olivia and James were joined on the dancefloor.  This lot were definitely up for a party!

An elegant and romantic wedding at a beautiful Cotswold wedding venue.  Congratulations to Olivia and James for getting married and creating such a wonderful day for yourselves, your family and your friends to remember.  I hope my images will help you to relive it again and again for many years to come.
