Today was a small and intimate affair to celebrate the same-sex marriage of Simon and Darren in the beautiful Boudoir Room.

The husbands to be; Same-sex wedding

Simon and Darren met at work five years ago. Simon bought a ring ready to propose to Darren on a holiday to St Lucia to meet his family, but before he could ask Darren surprised him with asking Simon to become his husband. The guys got ready separately in two of the hotel’s traditional classic rooms, perfect for a few un-posed getting ready shots. Both grooms wore matching blue suits with Ox and Bull bow tie cufflinks. Darren also had the scarf that Simon had given him on one of their first dates. Both grooms were incredibly emotional shedding tears of joy during the service. They exchanged platinum wedding bands and the two became husband and husband in this lovely gay wedding at Cliveden.

Setting the scene

The rooms was dressed for the wedding service with chairs either side of the aisle, lit by candles in lanterns and with two trees with floral bases and hanging candles and matching flowers on the table created by Blomster Designs. After the ceremony, the couple enjoyed champagne and canapés with their guests whilst the Cliveden team rearranged the room with an oval table for the wedding meal.

Documenting the day

Simon and Darren wanted their day photographed naturally capturing all the emotions and magic moments they would share with their family and friends. I took photographs to record the special details they had planned for their day, and some groups of the couple with their loved ones, but the majority of the day was taken with documentary style photography.

We took some special shots of the two of them, holding hands throughout the wedding ceremony, then afterwards together with Cliveden as their background and making use of the light at dusk to create some stunning intimate portraits of the couple. The whole day was full of emotion and love, and it was an honour to photograph this same-sex wedding for Simon and Darren, and wish them a very happy future together.
