As an experienced Buckinghamshire documentary wedding photographer, I always love returning to shoot wedding photography at the Compleat Angler in Marlow. This fantastic wedding venue is located on the banks of the River Thames with unparalleled views of the Marlow Weir in the heart of Buckinghamshire and is a dream to produce great candid Compleat Angler wedding photography.
The Compleat Angler is one of England’s quintessential English retreats. Named after Isaak Walton’s book of the same name. The book is both a manual of instruction to novice fisherman and a vision of society in harmony with nature. And sound advice on living harmoniously is always welcome at the start of married life.

Hosting weddings from small and intimate affairs of 6 people through to larger celebrations of up to 120 guests. Compleat Angler Marlow are licensed to host wedding ceremonies in three suites, the Thames Room, The River Room and The Regency Suite.
The smallest of these is The Thames Room that has capacity for up to 30 guests for a civil wedding ceremony and wedding breakfast. So is idea for small intimate weddings. It has a neutral palette, an elegant chandeliered ceiling and sumptuous interiors, perfect for a smaller wedding day celebration that still has a grand house feel.

The River Room also boasts a neutral palette, period features and opulent interiors. It can host civil wedding ceremonies and wedding breakfasts for a capacity of up to 48 guests. It opens out onto a covered terrace that overlooks The River Thames and the hotel’s pretty gardens. So, in good weather the doors can be thrown open so that guests can spill out allowing the indoor and outdoor spaces to seamlessly blend.
When I shoot wedding photography at Compleat Angler Marlow. I love the abundance of natural light in The River Room that floods in through the ceiling to floor windows. I use all additional light to create even more beautiful images.
The largest suite is The Regency Room. It has a civil ceremony and wedding breakfast capacity of up to 120 seated guests and an evening reception capacity of up to 150 guests. It has smart wood panelling, a chandeliered ceiling and a neutral palette that allows you to dress the room to your preferred style or leave bare. A chequer board dancefloor stands at one end and the doors can be thrown open to connect with the other function rooms. It has plenty of natural light (music to the ears of all Buckinghamshire wedding photographers!) and provides stunning views from its covered terrace.
You can choose to hire the rooms individually or opt for exclusive use and hire the entire venue. The flexible layout of Compleat Angler Marlow, allows guests to flow freely between rooms as they are all adjacent to one another. You can use the rooms to create distinct places for your wedding day or just allow guests to happily meander and explore this beautiful wedding location.
Or you can choose to have a church wedding with a church directly opposite the hotel, or in a catholic church just five minutes away.
After your ceremony you can enjoy a drinks reception either on the lawn enjoying spectacular views of Marlow Bridge and Weir and the River Thames. Whilst sipping bubbly, cocktails or pimms from the lawn they may spot rowing Olympians training on the river beside them, as part of the nearby famous Marlow Rowing club.

And the hotel is ideally situated just of the A404, 20 minutes from Heathrow Airport and is near the Marlow train station.
