Wedding photography at The Aviator in Hampshire
The Aviator, in Hampshire, is a stunning venue for a wedding, beautifully photographed as a backdrop to Sarah and Ben’s wedding, all captured with natural documentary images. Here’s there story…
Bride and Groom getting ready
Sarah and Ben met over three years ago. Ben proposed in August 2015 at The Aviator with a stunning solitaire diamond on a diamond encrusted band, and of course Sarah said yes!
Sarah and Ben returned to The Aviator for their wedding reception after marrying at a local registry office in Hampshire.
Sarah and Ben’s wedding was classically colour coordinated with ivory and blush, from the chair covers through to the flowers. The tables were decorated with spherical bowls of roses and orchids. Each guest had a favour in a cream box tied with a ribbon.
I took photos of Sarah as she got ready with the help of her make-up artist and hair stylist. I also got some relaxed shots of the groom and his best man waiting for the bug day to start.
Sarah wore a Sottero Midgley gown of blush, beautifully decorated with tiny pearl beads, crystals and sequins that caught the light as she moved. Sarah’s shows were matching in ivory and gold and she carried a bouquet of pastel blush and cream orchids. Ben wore a matching single orchid button hole.
Sarah was accompanied by two adult bridesmaids in long dresses of duck egg blue and two young flower girls in cream mid-length dresses. Sarah had chosen perfect gifts from Tiffany’s for her bridesmaids, which made a wonderful detail shot, their perfect teal boxes with white satin ribbons. The flower girls each carried an ivory satin cushion with the platinum rings, and Sarah was given away by her best friend.
The story of their wedding day
Sarah and Ben were able to enjoy every special moment of their day with their family and friends knowing I was capturing their unique story naturally with documentary photography. Some of my favourite photographs from the day were the natural portraits of the grandad with the young children, a special memory for them to keep.
The wedding cake was adorned with a tattered ribbon icing design topped with cascading fondant iced flowers. The couple posed for their cake cutting shot and a guitarist played for the guests whilst they enjoyed their coffee and petit fours.
The married couple and their guests celebrated the wedding through the evening, dancing to a disco, with Sarah and Brian starting the dancing off with heir first dance to the romantic ‘Come away with me’ by Norah Jones.
Later in the evening I took the couple outside to get some stunning night-time shots of the two of them.
The couple were leaving for an incredibly exotic honeymoon, visiting both Thailand and Vietnam….. ‘Come away with me and we’ll kiss on a mountain top, come away with me and I’ll never stop loving you’……
The Aviator, Hampshire wedding venue
The Aviator is an iconic venue, known for its amazing staircase. I made sure we got some stunning bridal portraits of Sarah using the staircase as a feature, and again later with the bride and groom and bridal party, shot from above using the structure to create a series of circular frames, leading the eye down to the central figures.
