Alison Keenan from QVC wedding

Monkey Island Wedding Photographer

As a Monkey Island wedding photographer I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Alison Keenan to her musician partner Colin at their Monkey Island Wedding.

Alison and Colin met as so many modern couple do, online, nine years ago. Then on Valentine’s Day, 2014, Colin took Alison away to The Grand Hotel in Brighton, where he proposed in the Piano Bar, presenting her with a single flawless diamond ring.

The morning started off cloudy which is always a worry for a wedding photographer, but the sun came out and shone all day for Alison and Colin, which was perfect for the relaxed garden shots in the grounds of Monkey Island.

Alison wore a beautiful 50s style swing dress over layered petticoats by Candy Anthony  and wore a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes, she looked stunning. Alison had a bouquet of real flowers that looked and smelt gorgeous too. One of my favourite images of Alison is her standing under the garden archway looking stunning in her dress.

The couple were married in a lovely local church and were joined by family and friends including Alison’s three children Sam, Jack, and Lucy with her baby girl Honey along with Colin’s five children  Vicky, Lily, Richard, Joe, and Dan with his fiance Rae. Alison was given away by one of her best friends Chris and they walked down the aisle to an expectant Colin.

There were some beautiful readings including a piece from Shakespeare read by Alison’s sister, Jenny. The priest kept the congregation involved and conducted a lovely service, and everyone joined in the hymns singing enthusiastically. The couple looked so happy as they turned to see their guests having signed the register and then walked hand in hand back down the aisle as husband and wife.

The couple were showered in real rose petal confetti from cones made out of music scores, a lovely detail that told the story of the couple.

I was able to take some shots of the couple as they were congratulated by their family and friends as well as getting a few portraits shots of the two of them. There was an opportunity for some very special small groups of those nearest and dearest to the couple to be taken but most of the wedding was recorded very naturally using my documentary storytelling style of photography.

The wedding cake was beautifully designed to match Alison’s wedding dress and was a sumptuous combination of layers of fruit cake, lemon sponge and chocolate cake, yum!

The couple enjoyed the first dance to their band with an almost dress malfunction when poor Alison’s petticoats tried to escape! The evening had a great sense of fun and celebration and the guests enjoyed chatting and dancing the night away to the band.
