Venice Street Photography

Venice Street Photography 1

Welcome to Venice, what a place to practice and hone your street photography by documenting Venetians as they go about their daily life intertwined with tourists who flock here most months of the year.

I arrived at Marco Polo airport and took the Aquilina water bus directly to Rialto bridge which was just a short walk to my apartment for the first few days to re acquaint myself with the best spots for some Venice Street Photography.

Early morning is by far the best time to capture the locals and by far my favourite locations were the market starting before 6.00 am watching the boats come in laden with their catches for the fish mongers to sell predominantly to the trade of local restaurants after which I always took a short break for a morning coffee and croissant at Café El Doge which always seems to full of mainly local Venetians.

After a great coffee id stroll along to one of the local squares again, you’d see locals going to work, walking their dogs or just meeting friends for a chat on one of the many benches in the square.

I moved onto Hotel Ala to meet four other photographers who’d signed up for this Venice Street photography course who arrived in style on one of the speed boat private taxis which is just an amazing but slightly expensive amazing experience.

Ive made a few short walks that I can highly recommend however the best thing to do in Venice for the best street photography is to just wander and get lost. Youll never be that far from your hotel

Burano

Its well worth taking a water bus out to visit Burano for the day. Its either best early morning or evening after the mass of tourists have gone, again just wander all the tiny back streets and youll find some wonderful locations with locals going about their daily lives.
